KIM JONES - New job

Kim Jones becomes Creative Director of Alfred Dunhill.
This is just what they need to inject some life into the luxury brand.
First thing I would do is lose Jude Law as the face! So overrated and boring.
Look forward to see what happens.

ROLLERBOYS - Epic as ever - S.E.D.A

Last night in Stockholm saw the release party for the new Rollerboys Recordings EP...
The Coastal EP. This is their third release and it might just be my fav so far, with a little funk number called 'Caprice'
There's also a remix from Ultracity! Sleeve design by FilipK, showing some nice typography skills, reminds me of
when I used to print by press - the old skool way.
Nice stuff boys, see you on the dance-floor!

+46 - Award exhibition

Last night in Stockholm saw +46 winner Annika Berger / Skyward,
show her award winning clothes. It was a walk around installation / exhibition
rather than the normal catwalk. The moody industrial distressed look complete with
random darkness, heavy strobe and warped music was well received, although it seemed
to leave a look of fear in many of the girl's eyes.
Keep an eye out for her de-stressed graphic patterns.

BARON MOVES - so sad for French Vogue

One of my favourite all time creatives - Fabian Baron... together with Glenn O'Brien are set
to take over Brant Publications, this includes Interview magazine (which really needs a fresh look)
The changes will appear in the May 2008 issue. The sad part is Baron leaves French Vogue :-(...
where his touch and vision has been so apparent. Above is an Interview cover by Baron where he
was Art Director in the 80's.

FEDEX - Ambient. An oldie but a goodie (Nov 2006)

Usually I'm not a big fan of putting other brands down to speak louder about your own,
it's a bit cheap, I believe a brand should speak on its own merits.
But in this case the idea is far too good to waste. Simple and hard hitting!
Created by BBDO Duesseldorf. If Ups are interested I have a revenge idea for them!

DAVID CARSON - love him or hate him...

Just viewing his work again got me thinking, if you love his work or hate it...
he has his place and there have not been many since with his impact!
If you didn't get the chance to see the Helvetica movie, get the DVD!

+46 - Stockholm Fashion Week

It's that time of year again and my good friends at ODD are continuing their successful +46 event for another year.
+46 is a competition for Scandinavia's biggest designer talent, the winner receives their own solo catwalk show tomorrow night.
This year it's been won by Annika Berger. There is also the +46 Trade Show events.
The international jury this year consisted of: Diane Pernet, Kim Jones, Rosa Orrantia, Gert Jonkers, Robin Schulie, Mattias Karlsson.
Keep up the good work guys!

YSL HOMME MOVIE - Autumn/Winter 2008

I had an idea that fashion should be shown in more filmic ways a few years back,
but this is so beautifully shot. Pure, simple and evoking!
Stefano Pilati is head designer at Yves Saint Laurent and instead of opting for the usual
catwalk presentation in Paris earlier this month, he presented this movie instead,
toying with the context of presentation itself. SEE THE MOVIE.
It also has a rather snappy remix of LCD Soundsystem - Sound Of Silver.

Cloud - created by Troika and commissioned by Artwise Curators...
for the new entrance to the British Airways luxury lounges at London Heathrow Terminal 5.
In response Troika made a five meter digital sculpture whose surface is covered with 4638 flip-dots
