Wired Sells 24,000 iPad Apps in One Day

Wired magazine app has been one of the most highly anticipated of all the magazine apps, released last week...
the app has achieved record purchases. To put it into perspective... GQ has sold 57,000 copies of its iPhone and
iPad apps combined over the past six months. It makes sense though, as the core readers all have an iPad.

Google Voice

Google continues in popularity due to many factors, one of these being their relentless strive for innovation
and creating products, services and tools that can actually help peoples lives (however big or small).

We are living in the information age and any tool which can help us handle the information, giving more time for
other life activities, the better ;-) Google Wave is also going to make a huge impact, once the masses catch on.

Lufthansa - Create Social Application

The SAS Facebook Connect application/campaign, Globe Of Fortune, was a huge success and nice experiment
for the airline to raise awareness of the brand within/on social networks. But this new Lufthansa tool, MySkyStatus
is actually really useful to and for people. Basically by adding your flight number and details it sends altitude,
location, departure and arrival updates automatically to your Facebook and Twitter pages. And it's not restricted
to just Lufthansa flights, but seems all the carriers are there, pulling info from one big database.

This is one strategy brands can really jump on these days, connecting to people by creating useful things, tools,
whatever - that actually make peoples life's easier, or help them in someway. This feeds back into the brand!

The SAS campaign was obviously going for the fun element and relying on Facebook to help spread the word,
which is also valid and helps spread awareness, in that case of their flight destinations.

I look forward to using this! One problem is the robbers can then clean your house out while you're just getting into
the movie and sipping on your drink at 36,000 ft. Good to keep in mind if you're connected to some dodgy types ;-)

Everything.Collected - RSS reader by Great Works

What the hell is going on this week, social social social is really breaking big! It's taken a good few years of
creatives, planners and agencies giving their blood and sweat trying to convince brands and clients of the importance
of getting into social asap. Yes, the big brands have been there a while, but now finally it feels like all the others are
following fast, lesson to learn there clients! Message for the future... Drive the train, don't just ride it!

Anyway moving on... The new RSS reader (is it more than that, haven't worked it out yet) #Everything.Collected by
#Great Works is great!!!
The main difference from other RSS readers such as Netvibes etc it seems, is that you can
pull various feeds into one big feed. Great if you have a lot of feeds to get through everyday!

The design is also something which feels much more approachable to the masses than most RSS readers...
less techy and a simpler colour coded #Collected (folder) system ;-)

I look forward to seeing how this develops! If it needs to at all?

WHOPPER - Facebook App

More and more brands feel they need to have their presence felt on Facebook, and why not. It's a quick and simple
hit, which if handled in the right way can create a fun experience with the brand. Like this Facebook app for Burger King,
which allows you to delete those old classmates that you never talked to at school anyway, delete 10 Facebook friends
and you get a free Whopper! Nice idea which plays and connects well with Facebook, only valid in the US though :-(

MINORITY REPORT - Becomes Reality

Science fiction technology has always written the future (especially from TV/film) and now here comes a piece of
tech we've all been waiting for. Working with web and digital, the Minority Report computer and interface would pop
up in conversation from time to time as reference. I'm ooking forward to using computers like this, but I guess we're
all have to workout a bit more on those arm muscles down the gym. More G-Speak information...

FACEBOOK - Ad Battle Application

This smart little app lets users vote between 2 ads, giving the top % voted for, so make sure you vote correctly and
earn those points. The app comes from a collaboration between Buddy Media and Atmosphere BBDO's Jason Culbertson.
You can expect more companies and brands to be creating these type of apps, brand loyalty by interaction...
online banners just aren't enough to reach people these days!

IN THE MOD - Colour Palette Application

As the world becomes more complex for everyone, with new technologies which are meant
to make our life simpler, but really just add to the new things to do, learn & buy...
the need to communicate in simpler ways but still retain impact is a must!
Colour has always been a pure way to do this and now there seems to be many applications
popping up, helping us choose and manage colour. Like this In The Mod - where you can take
a colour palette from any image, straight to Adobe Illustrator, nice!
