Self Development for Brand Development
A few weeks ago I made a presentation/seminar to a group of 60 people...
(my biggest audience so far)... it all seemed to go well and there were questions at the
end about certain topics I covered, which is always a good sign that there is interest
and impact in what you are talking about.
Below are some of my Keynote slides, not in any order really, but just give a glimpse of
some key topics and title slides to which I built cases, numbers and inspiration around.
It's a little out of context here without my VO (they always are unless recorded) but I'll post
an expanded version to Slideshare at some point hopefully ;-)
Since 2008 I've been doing this type of thing, to small groups, to clients, in-house and even
to individuals sometimes. I don't profess to be a professional speaker or anything like it,
nor do I wish to be (I think)... it's more a thing I like to do get my research, insights and
analysis out in one go, or out in a bigger way. There is definitely skill to creating flow and
how you join the dotes, the biggest problem I find is what to leave out as my inspiration
presentations are structured in a specific way, designed to help brands and companies
see the light and the opportunities to relate to people in the new world. That saying though,
it's more about personal development ;-)

Stefan Sagmeister - 7 year itch
I was lucky enough to hear Sagmeister talk at Offf 09, last May in Portugal. Although he is one of those speakers
who seems to be at all the conferences, the way he articulates his presentations and the simplicity of the themes
are always really impactful and memorable. A must see speaker!
In this new Ted talk above, he talks about the break he takes every 7 years from commercial work and puts a lot of
great rational behind it. I had a similar break for 6 months in 2003, really beneficial... hhhmmm roughly 7 years ago ;-)

DAN GILBERT - Exploring The Frontiers Of Happiness
My first post of the year from TED. An interesting talk/presentation from Dan Gilbert, well worth watching all the way
through if you've got the time. Some focus on why people buy things and errors in value, comparing with the past...
or possible. He touches on the emotion level of buying into things without saying it which I feel is missing, but a guy
in the audience brings it up. Stand out quote...
''What space is to size, time is to value'' - Plato

KEVIN ROBERTS - Ideas As The Currency Of The Future
Kevin Roberts, CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi (also founder of Lovemarks) has plenty of wise words! Many of these things
you may have read or heard in books, blogs, presentations etc. What's interesting is we keep hearing them again and again!
Really like his comment about consumer research and analysis - If you wanna know about lions go to the jungle, not the zoo!

KILLING CREATIVITY - True Words!
Sir Ken Robinson talks at TED about creativity in the educational system, how wrong it is...
and how it should be in the future, amongst other things.
True words in this very inspirational clip, he can even do stand-up comedy!
