REEBOK - Goes Tecktonic

Reebok has latched onto that current dance trend from France, Tecktonic.
It's a bit late and they should have gone more extreme, this clip above is too safe.
Notice how in the clip below only the girls cheer. The kid is gonna get beat by the
bullies when they hit the playground, pulling all the girls like that is just asking for it!

TINKER HATFIELD - Inspiration Interview

As we all know inspiration is everywhere, and in this clip above Nike designer
Tinker Hatfield talks us through one of his major creations. Fantastic how he
jumped from one creative industry into another. Would be great if companies
or big brands would set up exchange programs for creatives, imagine the influx
of fresh ideas and new approaches formed?

FLASH ON - Adobe Fuse TV & Online

Adobe launch Flash On - a mega-mix of flash, TV and movie - for online and mobile in HD.
It's all part of their push to enter the world of entertainment, check out the Media Player
I caught a good Adobe conference about it some time ago and it's set as a better TV or youtube,
with more content control. Just starting to use it now so we're see, but it seems promising!

KAREN COLLINS - Nice Fashion Photography

Some rather nice fashion photography by Karen Collins here, nice compositions
and I really like the muted colours. Not sure if this is just how they are represented
on the site but it makes a change from the normal high gloss stuff.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY - Stanley Kubrick

Today would have been the birthday of the late great Stanley Kubrick (July 26, 1928 - march, 1999)
The maverick director has influenced all aspects of the movie world, the likes of which will never be seen

again. His meticulous approach has often been described as lunatic, but I find it so inspiring and love to
hear all the stories that back this up. Check out this brand new documentary... Stanley Kubrick's Boxes
And probably the best documentary about him - A Life In Pictures

BANKSY - Comments On His Identity

After the media blitz last week, Banksy has commented on his website.
This witty response sounds like a double bluff to me!

NON FORMAT - Update

Non-Format update their site with some new works, continuing their attention
to typography and image manipulation. As they gain more commercial clients,
(rather than just record labels) it's nice to see their style develop into these realms.

BANKSY - The Scarlet Pimpernel Of Modern Art

The Mail newspaper goes on a year long investigation to uncover the true identity
of Banksy. This is a great read and brings back some nice memories for me. Coming
from Bristol originally (then to London, then Sthlm) and rolling in the same circles... I have
already been sworn to secrecy, but if the price is right I could be swayed ;-)
Offers now welcome!

AUDI - Symphony

Following on from The Art Of Performance campaign, Audi continue with
Audi Symphony... an orchestra composed of 41 musicians, 1 maestro and 2 Dj's...
from the German Bauhouse group, playing live music set to edited Audi R8 film clips.
Love this type of emotional advertising/stunts!

JOY DIVISION - The Documentary

For those Joy Division fans that were left a little unfulfilled by the film Control, now comes
a new documentary about the band which focuses more on the music and their gritty rise.
I caught it last night and it's well worth a watch, although of course still very sad towards the end.
If you haven't seen Control, it's still great just for the photography and mood set by Anton Corbijn.

KUBRICK SEASON - Channel 4

Stanley Kubrick is hands down my fav director and Channel 4 (UK) is a great broadcaster...
this TV spot above promotes the Kubrick season starting on More 4 / July 15th, showing 10
films and a new documentary called Citizen Kubrick. In the ad Channel 4 have painstakingly
recreated the set of The Shining as we get a behind the scenes look, complete with look-a-likes
of crew and cast. Amazingly well done!!! More here and also here.

IN THE MOD - Colour Palette Application

As the world becomes more complex for everyone, with new technologies which are meant
to make our life simpler, but really just add to the new things to do, learn & buy...
the need to communicate in simpler ways but still retain impact is a must!
Colour has always been a pure way to do this and now there seems to be many applications
popping up, helping us choose and manage colour. Like this In The Mod - where you can take
a colour palette from any image, straight to Adobe Illustrator, nice!

TOMATO - New Site / Fresh Work

When I was a design student in the mid-late 90's most of my peers wanted to be the next
David Carson or Neville Brody. Although also very influential to me at the time, it was the work
of Tomato that appealed more, mainly because they had more edge as they hit a bit later...
but also their ability to work closer to music, multimedia and approach design more as art.
Now they have a new site with fresh work and although most of the founders are now working
in the big advertising agencies and they seem to be mainly working with Japanese clients - it's
great that they are still going, still have a trademark style and are still producing provoking work.

GRAM - The Big Race

GramSE is a footwear company based in Stockholm, but can picked up all over the globe
in various spots. Check out highlights above from their release party which involved the final
RC race and a rather super-duper prize! It was a great night with excellent music and a fun
atmosphere, this is how release parties should be! Keep an eye on this brand ;-)

KAWS - One Man Brand

Kaws talks about his i-D issue + some background stuff! The way he has turned
himself from street artist to one man brand is quality! But he should take it easy
hanging out with all those hip hop stars, remember what happened to Nigo ;-)

ATTIGO TT - Touch Screen Technology

With all this new touch screen technology coming out now/near future, I'm thinking
about maybe starting a new company selling anti-static glass cleaner called Tech-Clean ;-)
Would love to have a go on these, just hope the sound is as full as vinyl.

CHRIS BOLTON - Nu Cosmic Design Talent

I love the graphic design work of Chris Bolton, the concepts, art direction, variety of styles and
level of detail to his work is very inspiring to me. Check out the work for his main client - Eskimo Recordings,
but then again if you're into the nu cosmic disco sounds like myself, you probably already have!

STREAMTIME - Better Management

Running a company/team/project is not just about great ideas and creative thinking...
it's just as much about good management and planning and seems where a lot of companies slip up.
Goodbye Excel, hello Streamline! Watch this video, seems like a great program which could help any
company! Now I need to get on with my lovely creative ideas!
