CUSTOMIZE / PERSONALIZE - Nike PhotoiD

Nike add more flexibility to there iD project with this little gem of an idea.
Take a pic of any image where you like the colours, MMS it to NikeiD...
they match the 2 most dominant colours to their palette and send you back
a link with your sneaker overlaid the image which inspired it.
This concept was developed with AKQA... akqa.com/nikephotoid

MARTIN VALLIN - One To Watch

Earlier this month I got to see new work from Martin Vallin. It had been over a year
since our last meeting and he had certainly been busy in the time. The main thing
about Martin's work I'm drawn to is his still life and personal work which has a very
big craft feel, which he also sometimes applies to his fashion and editorial work.
Big Active should pick him up for those skills as I can see more scope in there...

WERD!

W MAGAZINE - Bruce Weber

Legendary Bruce Weber shoots Summer Camp for W Magazine.

HP TOUCH SMART - Maestro

HP take that leap before Apple (makes a change) with a touch screen PC. A nice spot as well...
which seems rather influenced by Minority Report. Also see the work of Jeff Han (this from 2006)
who now works at Apple. The way we use our tools are really now changing and becoming reality!

MICHEL GONDRY - Picks 25

Music video master director Michel Gondry picks his favourite 25 music videos.
There are some obvious choices in there, but also some more abstract and surprises.
Each pick comes with some text by Gondry and a link to the video. Check it!

NO NEWS - Away

Sorry no news today, or for a little while as I'm away on holiday. But there is this clip above!
You can expect plenty of posts on my return! I posted this using the time delay so if you reading
it I guessed it worked, great!

MUSIC - Documentary

Although I'm not so into the music of Soulwax / 2manydj's these days (must be getting old)
did see them a lot in the early 00's though. This trailer shot by director Saam Farahmand for a
documentary following them on their world tour really is a great teaser and makes me wanna see
the film, major films could learn a thing or 2 from trailers like this. Listen out for the infamous
rave sample by Altern 8 - Frequency ;-)

CREATIVE REVIEW - Chat With The Mac Monkey Live

Yesterday in this spot was a live feed, as seen above. I had great fun taking to the Mac Monkey
and getting him to do all sorts of funny things. It was all part of a viral by Creative Review &
Design Week to get people to subscribe I think. In the next issues there should be some free
Mac Monkey thing for subscribers. Nice viral which seemed very popular.

BMW - GINA Light Visionary Technology

Emotional, Flexible, Humanistic - all key words that relate to living in today and the near future,
It's great to see BMW pushing the boundaries in the development of this technology and concept.

iPhone 3G - Yummy Yummy

Apple have been really quick to turn this product out with all the new features, app store and adds etc.
It's true to say that they have taken a giant leap into taking us closer into the world of science fiction.
Check out the full video unveiling from last night at the WWDC 2008 here. The other phone companies
can only play catch up now as this little puppy takes over the world at half the price of the G2 version.

ORIGINAL FAKE - Kaws does i-D

Next month i-D magazine has a special cover designed by Kaws for his Original Fake
clothing brand. There will be 2 different covers but you want this super-rare one above with a
fifth colour and spot varnish. Inside there is plenty more Kaws work and clothing shoots.
Amazing how this street artist has developed his style into a brand, hope it doesn't turn into another Bape!

1997 - Master Of The Internet

This guy got his 15 minutes of fame and helped people join a revolution ;-)
Or is this one big very well done ironic fake? I can't tell as I've worked with these type of people :-)

STEPHEN WILTSHIRE - The Living Camera

I think it was in the early 90's when I first saw a documentary about Stephen Wiltshire, which was mind blowing!
Now he is much older he has developed to a larger scale, where the amount of detail is hard to fathom. After recreating
all the major cities now with ease, I wonder what his next challenge could be - the world maybe?

FARROW - Finally

On April 24th I posted a piece about their new work for the band Spiritualized,
now finally Farrow (after a long long wait) have updated their site, showing all
the key projects over the years in alphabetical order. Hopefully people can now
see why they are best in this genre of graphic design and I can stop ranting on ;-)

SECRETS OF SUCCESS - In 8 Words, 3 Minutes

IT'S ALL IN YOUR HEAD!

This is a fun provoking way to exhibit, but I just wanna climb in there!
More here.

APPLE MAC - Music Video

This is a nice idea for a music video with no budget, surprised I haven't seen it before in some form.
I've noticed there seems to be a current trend again to animate lyrics typographically, which I like.
The sad thing about this video is it will start to look outdated and thus can never be timeless :-(
But it is of its time and it will be nice to reminisce on VH1 one day.

PETER SAVILLE - New Work

Peter Saville and associates have a new website and some new work to go with it.
The site is to be updated, soon hopefully. But check out the more classic stuff here.

LIVE TV ADVERT - Difficult is worth doing!

This is a great idea for TV advertising, to pull people back to TV in the fight against the internet...
the UK's first live TV advert was aired on Friday night. Check it out above, I won't say which
brand so you can take a guess. More info here.
