Best Buy - E-Cycle

The environment, green, recycling approach is a strategic approach that many brands are jumping on at the moment.
Doing something good and talking about it, should have a positive effect within consumers minds... leading them to
be part of that brand, movement etc. All brands in the near future will have such a positioning of some sort... making
it the norm or standard. One problem brands have is continuing to talk about it, or making it stick in some way...
often a brand has spent years marketing and advertising other benefits of a company or product... thus becoming
known for those (good or bad)... Explore Brand Tags...

What I like about Best Buy and what they are doing with their Greener Together e-cycling program, is the fact they
are now starting to really get behind this concept and market it, although having it in place for a year now. I guess
it's hard to put such a program in place, from a logistics and cost perspective. But the idea that you can bring in your
old electronic goods, even if bought elsewhere is definitely a good idea worth talking about. I'm sure it is a problem
many people face when moving house or having an annual clear-out etc. Knowing your old stuff will go to the right
place then feeds back to the consumer in a positive way and leaves a feeling of doing good from both parties.

People want to be part of something good! And make a difference! Involve them ;-)

Adobe & Wired - Digital Magazine

As the iPad date to buy gets ever so closer, so does the companies and brands that want to be connected with it...
being first should have a positive reaction! And what better magazine to make the shift to digital than Wired magazine.
I'm looking forward to trying out all the various magazines who will jump into this area, keen to see what the user
experience is like and how it will compare to print and even online experiences. I guess content will always be king though!

New Balance - 365 Project / iPhone App

New Balance step up their digital presence with a fun project created by Mother New York, in collaboration with
Swedish film director Jesper Kouthoofd. Very Swedish art direction in the movies and a fun iPhone app which is
apparently the world’s first audio/visual alarm clock. A new movie is added everyday, there's also some nice graphs
and stats related to who's asleep and who's not... but I hope this project develops, there is a lack of interaction
and participation at the moment I feel. Nice job on the whole though ;-) Explore the project yourself...

NIKE: THE HUMAN CHAIN

Wieden+Kennedy create this new ad for Nike, reinforcing what Nike ads stand for: Simple, engaging, emotional,
and with this message, motivational!

Director: Brian Beletic

TED - Augmented Reality Maps

Amazing development here! Blaise Aguera y Arcas is an architect at Microsoft Live Labs, architect of Seadragon,
and the co-creator of Photosynth, which you may remember being showcased on TED in 2007. Again he delivers some
WOW to the people attending TED in Long Beach, California recently!

BANKSY - Exit Through The Gift Shop

What is this all about? Doesn't look like a documentary about Banksy. Is it a mockumentary about street-art...
made by Banksy, probably! Music by Geoff Barrow (Portishead) and some from Roni Size ;-)
Does anyone have any more info about this, would love to know more?

R.I.P - Alexander McQueen

So sad to here the news of the death of a true creative visionary yesterday!

Alexander McQueen: Inspiring, daring, cutting-edge, pioneering, imaginative, innovator...
are some words that spring to mind... and still seem to underestimate his creative talent...
a sad loss not just for fashion, but for what creativity stands for!

Below is a clip of a memory I have from 1999 when, for me, his genius really shone through...
I became a fan and took interest from this moment on...

CAT London 2009: The New Creative Rock Stars

Those of you who have worked with digital projects/agencies for sometime, totally understand the main points
in this clip and have done for many years. What's good about this clip is all the main topics are covered and gives
insights into how the new agency (all agencies) should operate internally and how they should also steer the client
into understanding the new working ways to obtain great solutions. As the world has changed and how we function
in it also (as consumers)... the processes in creating good, engaging and unique creative must also change.

Fortunately the day and mindset of traditional vs digital has now disappeared (nearly) with traditional agencies now
understanding that technology plays a huge part in creating solutions today. But it's not the idea!!! It's a channel,
a platform or a part of the idea, adding to the creative solution and client brief or problem ;-)

Understanding is the first step into making change ;-) Seth has the solution and wise words (as usual)

Google Parisian Love 2010 Super Bowl XLIV Ad

My favourite ad from the Super Bowl. Simple, service driven, emotional and yet disruptive, the rest seem desperate compared.

Tomorrow night the new project (The Factory Club) by Peter Hook, Ben Kelly and Function One opens!
Peter Hook is still bitter about all the money he lost, but I'm sure this will be popular and seems a nice idea
to create a venue for up and coming bands. Check it out...
