TWO FOR ONE - Bic Ad

I don't think I've ever seen an ad which promotes two products in the same ad before.
Love this simple approach!

NEW ORDER - Round & Round

A fantastically simple video here, which is both captivating and well shot. Must have really stood out
from the usual MTV look and feel at the time. Timeless!

JEFF KOONS - Pop Pop Pop Art!

I've always had a soft spot for the art of Jeff Koons! If you're in New York go check out his enlarged
sculptures on The Cantor Roof at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. April 22nd - October 26th, 2008.
There is also a new book with his entire works and in-depth studies. The book is limited to 1,500
numbered copies, each signed by Koons. So in a way it's like owning a piece of his art for 750 quid!

FLOCK - The Social Web Browser

If you're into the whole networking, social and sharing thing - this could be the application for you!
Flock is a browser which supports Facebook, Flickr, Yahoo! Mail, Gmail or 18 other supported services.
Share content with your friends easily with a dragging and dropping system. Create and publish your blog
from the usual blog services and basically do loads of other things.
I'm sure there will be many things like this popping up soon, to control and manage your online life better!
Hopefully?

FARROW - Sound And Vision

If I could name one company that influenced me to follow graphic design rather than the art route after school,
it would have to be Farrow, or rather Mark Farrow. His early 90's music graphics for the Hacienda, Deconstruction
records and the Pet Shop Boys sent me on a journey I still reference today.
Their collaboration with the band Spiritualized continues with some new minimal packaging which is sure to win
just as many design awards as previous albums. (Amazing Grace from 2003 pictured above)

adidas - Superstar Battle

The Left Right Project - East Coast Vs West Coast - Upper Playground Vs Surface To Air.
I would love to have a go at one of these, would look rad in my garden!
Created by: 180/TBWA Alliance.

FANTASTIC MAN - New Edition

One magazine dominated most design awards last year, Fantastic Man.
The new edition dropped last week!

AUDI RS 6 - Performance From Every Part

Last week I posted the new spot for the Audi RS 6. Now check out the
site here. It's a simple and effective design with another media wall which
has plenty of performance video and the right information. But I'm not really
sure if it takes the idea/concept further.

Antony Gormley - Out Of Time

I first saw the art of Antony Gormley in 1994, when he won the Turner Art Prize.
His work had an immediate effect on me, I think because of it's minimal, out of time look and feel
but also because of the place or space the work was situated. So it was great to come across
his site and find plenty of new pieces I hadn't seen. Now I just have to save some money and
create a space for one ;-)

NOKIA - Snake

Farfar & Hobby Film create this fun online viral for Nokia nGage, promoting the classic
(my fav) game Snake. It's funny how things posted on youtube get picked up by creative agencies
and used in advertising and music video's. Saw this a while back, I wonder if it was the reference?

RACHEL THOMAS - Set Design

Rachel Thomas creates lovely set design and has collaborated with
the fantastic still life / product photographer Dan Tobin Smith.

BANKSY - New!

He's been a bit quiet of late but here is a new piece in central London.
How he managed to do it right in front of a CCTV camera without being caught is also the art here!
Great skills, that's how!

DANIEL EATOCK - Sthlm

Last night in Stockholm I had the opportunity to hear Daniel Eatock give a talk about his work.
I first became aware of him through his early Channel 4 (UK) advertising and design projects, but it was
great to understand his more conceptual work which often has a comedic twist or brings a smile to the mind.
He also invented and shared the web system Indexhibit, which can be downloaded and used for free.

Above is a table mat created for Riche, no need to steal it, guests are allowed to keep it after eating ;-)

LE COQ SPORTIF - Love It!

I love these type of video/mixed media walls. It's the perfect solution if you're a brand
with bulk heritage with advertising to match. The search and sort functions are great on this...
as well as the content and design. I worked on a project last year where we were after a similar
look and feel, the shear amount of content here is impressive and impactful (almost too much)

Good to see Le Coq stepping up their game against the other sporting giants!

CAR ADVERT - The Mill / BBH

The Mill deliver as usual in this nice ad for a famous car brand, by BBH.
It's great that car adverts these days are more concept/core based and not just about showing the product,
they were a bit late to catch on. Think it really started heating up with this one quite some years back now.

NEW SONY AD - Images

Maybe this doesn't have the impact of Balls or Paint, but I like the more emotional / humanistic approach.
At the same time I wish the people weren't in the way. TV advert out May 1st.

SAGMEISTER - Inside / Outside

Take a look at the new Stefan Sagmeister book, a lovely simple idea!
Then make and add your own - Things I Have Learned In My Life So Far.

VINCENT SKOGLUND - One To Watch!

Check out Vincent's fine portfolio. In the early 90's he made a name for himself as a snowboard photographer
and has since gone on to work with brands such as Nike, adidas, WeSC and Burton to name a few.
His 2006 exhibition for the adicolor documentary had a big impact on me at the time and still looks really fresh.
My creative director Johan used to ride with him back in the day, so of course we've been pushing our clients to
work with him for a long time ;-) Definitely one to watch!

VINCENT SKOGLUND - Light Years

Last night saw the opening for Vincent's new exhibition, Light Years at Gallery Kleerup.
The fantastic ambient photography with mega lighting in the forests of Sweden is a must see!

MASSIVE ATTACK by Nick Knight

Beautiful clip here by the experimental photographer. Sound and vision working lovely together.
Keep watching!

WOW - White Gold!

I don't normally post these type of sites as I find the production quality usually falls short of the concept.
But the high level of skill and attention to detail in taking this idea forward, makes this for Got Milk? well worth it.
The crazy concept has been created by Goodby, Silverstein & Partners and amazingly produced by Odopod.
Would love to know the budget. Go explore!

NAVIGATION - Look No Mouse

Publicis & Hal Riney have a new navigation system to go with their new chief creative.
I've been seeing more and more of this type of thing, but never within such a beautiful site.
Really love the ink animation here, well worth a play with or without a mouse.

SPIN - Action Time Vision

One of my favourite design companies over the last 10 years update with some new work...
including the third edition of the mini newspaper magazine Spin/3 - Action Time Vision
This time their theme is Punk 7'' singles. Have a good look through their fine print and TV identity work.

R.I.P. - Paul Arden

On Tuesday last week, advertising great Paul Arden sadly died after a long illness.
As executive creative director at Saatchi & Saatchi during its heyday, Arden helped create some classic
ads for clients such as British Airways and Silk Cut. In his latter years he made a name for himself as
a writer with books such as, It's Not How Good You Are, It's How Good You Want To Be and his second
book, Whatever You Think, Think The Opposite (both are must reads)
A true maverick who will be sadly missed within the advertising industry and beyond!

IT'S ALL IN THE DETAILS!

The power of the business card!

TROYT COBURN - Updates

I've had an eye on Troyt Coburn for a couple of years and now he has updated
with some fresh beautiful images, like these above for Lee. I also love the simplicity
of the site and based a project last summer on it. Thanks Troyt!

D&AD - Banksy News

The Bristolian golden boy of the art world is apparently in talks with D&AD to take a
senior role in the organisation. The anonymous graffiti guru has been tipped to fill the
top job left vacant by former D&AD chief executive Michael Hockney last year. Will be
interesting to see if this happens, but can't see it myself!
