Disney - 100 Million+ Page Likes on Facebook

In September 2009 I gave a presentation where I talked about the rise of Disney and the vision Walt Disney had.
I've talked about this subject before on this blog, how and why the brand has been so successful throughout the
years. Back in September 2009 it was even more relative, somehow it all connects to the milestone hit last weekend.

See older blog post HERE...

Yes Disney may have more than 200 official brand, property and character pages today...
But maybe this is something other brands with many products can research and learn from.

INFLUENCERS (FULL VERSION)

When I saw the trailer for this last month, I thought I would have to wait and
catch it at a film festival, or buy it on DVD. Nice to now see it so quickly ;-)

Looking forward to seeing more clips, seems this could be much longer...
A full documentary would be nice :-)

Kanye West - Runaway (34 minutes of epic)

Kanye West, love his music or hate it... I really like the fact that not only is he pushing himself musically
but visually as well. Not anything new within the history of music, but within his genre he really stands out a lot
with a more artistic approach, which over time has seen his profile grow and should keep him relevant for longer.

Caught this YouTube clip this morning, it was on 645,291 views, tonight it's jumped to 1,647,977!
With Gaga reaching 1 billion YouTube views, these type of big (pop) numbers are something to get used to.

This epic visual opera definitely beats the usual bling approach! Directed by Kanye, written by Hype Williams.

Jona Lewie for IKEA

I've always liked this track by Jona Lewie and this is a nice collab / connection
for IKEA, but it's destroyed the track for me :-( bringing it to the mainstream.

BUT... You'll (STILL) Always Find Me In The Kitchen At Parties!!!

Abby Road LIVE feed...

Watch tourists and fans bring chaos to North London traffic...
http://www.abbeyroad.com/visit

This is a nice simple way to promote a landmark or business... if you have heritage use it and involve people.
The clever thing here is that people were already there doing it, this live feed lets us join in on their fun.

You don't have to wait long until 4 people try to replicate that famous album cover.

Jon Hopkins - Vessel (Four Tet Remix)

Directed & produced by: Bison. And the process...

BISON: "We'd been looking into an old 3D technique called "Anaglyph", which is the familiar red and cyan version of 3d
that you used to get on the back of cereal boxes. The more we looked at various images that used this technique, the more
we fell in love with the colours and decided that they should drive the aesthetic of the piece. In particular, we were
intrigued as to what might happen if the two images were from drastically different sources.

"The song is full of light and shade; with euphoric melodies and skipping glitchy beats. It seemed to us that themes of

'duality' ran through both the song and our visual idea.

"We took those themes to our stylist, Justine Josephs who, along with our make-up artist Sally Marshall, created two

opposing looks for our dancer, Claire Meehan. We spent a single day shooting in a South East London studio with Chris
Nunn behind the camera and lights.

"Finally came the edit and post-production process: We locked ourselves in the studio for 2 weeks working with After

Effects. The process was pretty organic; we spent a week or so playing with the footage, developing different ideas and
techniques, and then spent a further week moulding the disparate pieces into a solid video that ebbed and flowed in the
right places."

H&M - Lanvin Collaboration (BTS)

H&M do what they do best... collaboration. More info and story here...

Aeroplane - Superstar (official video)

Nice engaging art direction here for the new Aeroplane single released next week, slightly reminiscent of the
Red Hot Chilly Peppers - Can't Stop, video directed by Mark Romanek. Or MTV's - become a idents maker
(see below)... both playing with randomness to engage.

Musically it's a real shame that over the last 2 years or so the direction has gone down a more commercial standard
route, the first few singles and remixes were really unique and standout... guess that's 1 reason why Stephen has now
left the duo. But different strokes for different folks I guess.

The XX - Win The Mercury Prize

The XX win the prestigious Mercury Music Prize 2010. Maybe obvious but still very well deserved ;-)
Previous winners of the prize consist of some of the best UK artist albums over of the last 20 years, so they can
now expect their record sales to jump and the added pressure to deliver that tricky second album.

ABSOLUT LEMON DROP featuring Ali Larter

The Absolut Lemon Drop short B-Movie is now released, directed by Traktor.

Arcade Fire - The Wilderness Downtown

Arcade Fire have always been progressive online. Knowing that most people watch music videos online, they
have again opted for a richer and more personal experience. Choreographed windows, interactive flocking,
custom rendered maps, real-time compositing, procedural drawing, 3D canvas rendering... this Chrome
Experiment has them all. "The Wilderness Downtown" is an interactive interpretation of Arcade Fire's song
"We Used To Wait" and was built entirely with the latest open web technologies, including HTML5 video,

Tomato's Dirk van Dooren worked on the original concept with Fallon's ECD Richard Flintham. Check out the YouTube channel for the all the spots, also featuring the idiosyncrasies of The Woman.

Coke Burn "Ride"

“All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to
find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes,
to make it possible.”

Thomas Edward Lawrence.

STHLMVII - This Sunday

Speaking of Ben Drury yesterday, I'm very happy that he will be here in Stockholm this Sunday as part of STHLMVII.
It's a mix of football matches (between creative types and the cooler retail shops) here in Stockholm,
mixed with some creative guests talking about, um - creative things. All hosted by Nike Sportswear!

This will be a lot of fun I'm sure. More info HERE...
