The future of magazines?

along comes this great article via CR! Within 2 years they think ;-) Click link above!

Lean Mean Fighting Machine - Radio

Lean Mean Fighting Machine have created this nice little idea which lets you explore playlists from the staff.
Feeding in from Last.fm I believe. Connecting to current technology is always better than reinventing the wheel!

Designed DJ Desks

Super cool Dj desks by Metrofarm. I must look into the cost of having one of these :-)

Aston Martin Rapide

This should make a lot of Dad's happy! Now you can get your sports car and still drive the kids to school and
go on those family holidays, all in style ;-) That's right, 4 doors!

Google Chrome - The Features ad + BTS Making

Google have made their most ambitious 'how to use' or 'the features' movie to date. I'm not sure if this is as easy
to understand as their other product and application demos or ads, but it is definitely more entertaining.
Everything shot in real-time sequences with a story for each feature, even the music is live and not overlaid.
Not a new style in advertising or film making, but a brave move for a tech company, it feels a little more humanistic
which is a good thing. If you like Mouse Trap, The Goonies or Michel Grondy, you're be into this I think ;-)

Michael Johansson - Random Sculpture

Swedish artist
Michael Johansson likes to play Tetris. And I bet he's very good!

New Honda ad - Everything We Do Goes Into Everything We Do

New Honda Civic ad. Really nice editing and remixing, I like the payoff copy...
'everything we do goes into everything we do'. Style over message maybe, but it works ;-)

Definitely sells a Civic, if you're in the market for a small car!

Favorite Places by Google, of course

Whore houses and drug dealers can also benefit from this ;-)

I read a book recently that suggested having a Google city, for fans to live in.
But who needs a city when you can have the world and also know everything about the people living in that world?

Oh that's Google today!

The Man From UNKLE - Documentary

Love him or hate him, James Lavelle definitely played an influential part in bringing a huge chunk of underground
music/street culture into awareness. Through fashion, music and art he created a style and sub-culture of it's own,
which in some form still exists today, although it may have different players. His visionary skills not only brought an
eclectic mix together via music, but his approach of connecting a visual identity to it was forward thinking and had
been lacking in youth culture (to that degree) for sometime!

Looking forward to catching this documentary, when it comes out? It's been in pre-production for ages.
It will probably only have 2 cinema showings, in London and Tokyo. The DVD release will be 200 quid and limited
to 10 copies worldwide. Are people still into that strategy ;-)

WeSC / Medicom Toy collaboration

As part of WeSC's 10th anniversary celebrations for 2010, WeSC has collaborated with Japanese brand...
Medicom Toy to create four boxed sets featuring their classic patterns on both WeSC headphones and the iconic
BE@RBRICK. The packs retail for 1000 Kr each or 1400Kr for the package which comes with the FABRICK pouch.

On Thursday there will be a number of sets pre-released at C Store, in Stockholm.
Along with music from Lady Tigra(LA) and Smoke L.E.S (NYC).

IKEA - Facebook Tag campaign

This is a great simple idea that has been getting a lot of coverage this week!

Stella Artois - You Got The Love

I'm not so into the new Stella Artois campaign/concept, but I love this cover!

The concept/brand seems to try and attach itself to the green/sustainable strategy, I think.
But doesn't really feel that authentic. Maybe I'll change my mind in time.

Check out and explore the clips on their YouTube channel...

Wanker or Genius - What do you want to ask Neville Brody?

A few more hours and then #Brodydandad starts! Tweet your questions to him LIVE.
I have a few, I heard him speak in the summer at OFFF, he actually said there had been nothing new, fresh or
breakthrough in the last 20 years. Come on Neville, you can't believe that? He obviously means since his heyday.

He then went on to show some of his recent work that looked very 90s stylee :-(

Big-up THE FACE work and FUSE though ;-) And even The Times redesign!

Esquire - The Augmented Reality Issue

Last year I posted a piece about George Lois slamming the Esquire digital cover... catch it here...

Now Esquire has gone one step further with their Augmented Reality issue. This is definitely a brave move by the
magazine and is a way for them to move with the times and have presence in an interactive way. I guess they still
have a large core subscription market, so this is a good way and different way from other magazines of bringing
those readers online slowly, rather than just going full-on into an online version. I like the fact that you will get new
content (extras) by using the AR elements. The magazine becomes more interactive than just a look or read...

I look forward to experiencing this, it conjures up many ideas this concept can be applied to ;-) got any ideas?

THE COVE - You Need To Know, To Stop It!!!

Last week I got an invite to a preview of one the films showing at this years Stockholm Film Festival, I have to
spread this so we can help create awareness and stop this awful act as soon as possible! Go see it as well!

Every year 23,000 dolphins are killed within a tiny cove in a Japanese fishing village called Taiji. The reason why
you haven't heard of this before, is that gaining evidence is almost impossible as The Cove is heavily guarded and
sheltered from cameras and prying eyes... hiding this very dark secret. Until now!

Not even the Japanese people know about this practice and the fact that they are eating the meat and being told that
it's whale meat, which they consume in huge amounts. To add to this disgusting situation is the fact that the dolphin meat
is heavily contaminated with mercury, which is slowly poisoning the people without their knowing.

This documentary follows a team with speciality skills, intent in gaining evidence by what ever means necessary...
which in this case includes state of the art surveillance techniques and film set special effects, with military planning.

Don't worry I haven't told you everything about the film... so make sure to try and see it!

Find out more about it... and explore the MOVEMENT here...

A MOUNTAIN OF ONE - LIVE Tonight @ Debaser Medis

Tonight at Debaser Medis, the wonderful sounds of A Mountain Of One will be gracing Stockholm!
Plus other live acts: Bandjo and Syket ;-)

8 Ways to kill an idea!

I'm sure if you work in any creative industry, you can relate to at least one of these 8 ways to kill an idea, if not more!
You're probably better off being an artist and being the master of your own concepts ;-) But some ideas are worth fighting for.

Breakthrough Learning in a Digital Age - Day 1

Finally Google get behind something that really matters, not just creating cool apps that help people (yes good) but
now they are creating a movement for the future and our children. They are really enforcing a platform/concept to help
education in a digital age... and opening it up to creatives and technologists to help create the tools and ideas to do this.

Informal schooling Vs formal schooling is a hot topic in the world of education, mainly due to the shifting world we're
living in. Both from a technology perspective but also a mindset. Sesame Street was also born out of this shifting
world and media (TV) in the 60s. If you have a spare 1:44:56, then check out this clip! Or make the time!

Have you got what it takes to add to the movement? Get more info here...

Nike Trackball

Ogilvy Singapore take the Nike CTR360 football boot and show off it's control benefits by creating an engaging

digital in-store experience. Next-step I guess is to have a digital boot that tracks your performance ;-)

SATURDAY 14/11/09 - 24:hours feat. TONY LIONNI

Tomorrow night @ Marie Laveau, Stockholm. SWEDEN. 10PM - 3AM.
We are proud to have DJ/producer TONY LIONNI joining us from Berlin ;-)
Responsible for a definite track of the year 'Found A Place' which has been
dropped in all dance-floor genres this year!

Invitation here...

Creative Review - Art Vinyl's sleeves of the year

It's really important in my opinion that record/album sleeve art never dies! Even though downloading and file
sharing is increasing all the time, artwork is usually and if done in the right way, an extension of the music, artist...

and concept!

That saying, I'm not so impressed with this selection on the whole. Whatever happened to great design covers by
the likes of: Pink Floyd, New Order etc. Could it be something to do with record labels cutting production budgets?
Well that shouldn't really effect the creativity should it!

But then again I really need to see these in the flesh and not on a digital computer screen. I think Apple are trying
to cover this problem in the latest iTunes, by not just showing the cover, but as much visual and factual content as
possible related to that album. Still it's not the same as pulling out that old LP or 12" is it!

Lady GaGa - Bad Romance

Lady GaGa keeping up the oddness in her new music video, including plenty of artistic and visual references from
the likes of Leigh Bowery, Matthew Barney and 2001, to name a few! Will her shock format become too formated?
Some may say it already has but I guess if it keeps the kids happy and popping on the dance-floors, good for her!
Nice cinematography and direction anyway, by Francis Lawrence.

Tonight @ Riche...

'Astrophyton Darwinium' by Cecilia Ömalm Krajcikova will be unveiled tonight at Riche www.riche.se
Lilla Barens plaster relief’s of sea horses and mermaids have looked down upon the restaurants vibrant nightlife for over 100 years.
It will now be renovated and then joined by a new permanent piece of art mounted on the ceiling - Astrophyton Darwinium.

Astrophyton Darwinium at a quick glance may seem like a ceiling rosette, but in fact it is a 1.8m wide Giant Basket Star.
Mouth and genital organs point down toward the unsuspecting bar guests, ready to envelope and swallow them.
The artwork is originally based on a lithograph by the German biologist Ernst Haeckel (1834-1919), who discovered thousands
of new species, and coined many biological terms. He was and has been controversial and ridiculed, even after his death...
E.H was accused of falsification of illustrations of embryos in order to prove theories. He also advocated the superiority of the
german race, ideas that later were used as scientific quotes in Nazi Propaganda. The lithograph is part of Kunstformen der Natur,
(Artforms of Nature) a book illustrated by Haeckell including over 100 detailed, multi-colour illustrations of animals and sea creatures.

Past recipients of Riche's annual commission:

2009 Cecilia Ömalm Krajcikova “Astrophyton Darwinium”
2008 Christian Pontus Andersson “Oh lord, to follow her own law is not the way of the trannie”
2007 Jonas Nobel “The struggle for an idea worth fighting for”
2006 Fingerspitz (Åsa Klingberg and Natasza Nowakowska), “Untitled”
2005 Roger Andersson “Down on your knees”
2004 Gunilla Klingberg “A brand new view”
2003 Jonas Dahlberg “No safe zones 8”

Cecilia Ömalm Krajcikova was born in 1974 and lives and works in Stockholm.
She is represented by Gallery Natalia Goldin www.nataliagoldin.com

COP15 - Raise Your Voice!

COP15 is coming up, running in Copenhagen from Dec 7th - Dec 18th. It is sighted as the most important conference
about climate change in the last 10 years. As the world leaders will be there and they should be listening to what the
world is saying as a collective... various tools and systems have been popping up recently for the citizens of Earth to
Raise Your Voice and help spread awareness. Like this above, created by Israeli agency Mizbala and TV station
Tel Aviv... where you can sign a petition with the help of YouTube's new shared annotations technology, very cool!

Also, below #thisplace, a twitter like application that encourages you to post a comment about what's worth saving.
The idea is to capture what's at stake due to climate change and what matters to you in 140 characters. The contributions
will then end up in a book that will be given to delegates at the conference.

So now you have the tools to Raise Your Voice ;-)

INTERNET: Costs/Speeds Around The World

Internet Access Cost

Google Voice

Google continues in popularity due to many factors, one of these being their relentless strive for innovation
and creating products, services and tools that can actually help peoples lives (however big or small).

We are living in the information age and any tool which can help us handle the information, giving more time for
other life activities, the better ;-) Google Wave is also going to make a huge impact, once the masses catch on.
