READ MORE - Simple Effective Ad

Nice ad here which is straight to the point! There should probably be one referencing spending
too much time online just surfing, as we all tend to do these days! The ad is for a publishing company.

CHANGE IS GOOD!

Over the next few months the Filtered Blog will
be going through some changes, content wise.

There will still be plenty of lovely creative stuff
highlighted from around the world, as like now.
But there will be extra content which will appear
slowly at first, then hopefully develop.

I can't say more at the moment as I'm not sure
myself how this development will progress.
Keep posted to see ;-)

MUSICAL MOMENTS - #1

In early 2005 I was lucky enough to see the King Monkey himself perform at the adidas Superstar 35th anniversary
party in Stockholm. I believe it was the first time he'd done those early classics, rather than his solo stuff, which
was a great surprise! That summer he did the festival circuit with the same set, but you can't really ever get better
than the Glastonbury festival! The BBC coverage is always outstanding from Glasto if you're stuck at home :-(

FALLON - Tomas Mankovsky

Last week I had a like-minded meeting with Fallon creative, Tomas Mankovsky. The general conversations were
about creativity and advertising, it was interesting to find out more about how Fallon let him take Mondays off to
work on his own projects. But then again of course they would as they feed back into the company, but that's not
why he does it, all us creatives need other outlets, things we don't have to put logos on or sell into clients.

Above is one such self-initiated project which I really like! He tried to sell it first to a very famous music channel,
but as that channel is famous for not paying for creative, it didn't go through. The week after through Fallon they
sold it into Sony. The life of an idea is funny old thing, they are like fish!

FOR GOD - Guerilla Marketing / Scam

Something rather funny, but also very controversial has just come to light in Sweden. The company
that make the machine you push when wanting to cross the road, have come out and said that the
iconology is actually a well-known Christian symbol... referring to that there is only one path to God.
The device is in 55 swedish cities and 17 different countries, the company have kept it secret until now.

This is the best guerilla marketing campaign I have ever heard of! But take a look at the company website...
Prisma Teknik and all the signs are there. Read full story in Swedish...

BRAIN ENO & DAVID BYRNE - By Hillman Curtis

The amazing documentary maker Hillman Curtis has made a short film focusing on their new record
Everything That Happens Will Happen Today and on their creative partnership. See the trailer here.
It's been 30 years since the pair created the cult album
My Life in the Bush of Ghosts (which I love)
The full film version will be included on the deluxe CD/DVD packaged by Stefan Sagmeister.

If you haven't seen the
Hillman Curtis Artist Series, check them out! Stand out inspiration movies about...
Sagmeister / Pentagram / Mark Romanek / David Carson / Paula Scher / Milton Glaser etc

BUILD - Michael C. Place / Pritt Advertising

Design superstar, Ex Designers Republic, Michael C. Place aka Build has recently lent
his hand (and face) to the new advertising campaign to promote the Pritt correction roller
called Mystyle. See the french TV commercial or watch the complete movie.

A good collaboration / pairing up here, really nice to see Michael creating his trademark
graphics with craft skills, instead of his usual vector magic.

YCN LIVE - Platform For Emerging Talent

YCN have been highlighting creative talent for some time in the UK. Now they
take a big leap internationally with this chestnut of an idea, where the concept
is to put emerging creative talent on the worldwide map. You can also create
your own events. This is a great simple idea that utilises google maps and focuses
on events and people in areas you want to know about, like where you live.

UNITED VISUAL ARTISTS - Massive Attack

UVA and Massive Attack continue their collaboration with new effects for live shows and tours...
impressive visuals and direction as always by the number one light players!

VOGUE ITALIA - Lovely Shot

Above is a great shot by I'm not quite sure who? It's from Vogue Italia (July Issue)
which was the ''All Black'' issue, only featuring black models, with of course Naomi on
the cover. Full of great images from the likes of Steven Meisel, I heard the issue is already
a collectors item. See inside if you missed it...

R/GA - Digital Branding

R/GA - One of the top digital agencies, with offices in London, New York & San Francisco...
they are set to start a branding arm to the group, but still with a focus on digital. With technological
driven work in the past for Nike and Nokia, this is a bold and good move for the group, which is needed
online in this day and age. Shame I passed on them when they tried to headhunt me :-(

Nice statement here...
‘The fundamental principles of branding still apply in digital marketing, yet there are also new
opportunities that are not fully realised by other branding and advertising agencies.’

LSB - 24:hours STHLM Special Guests!!!

Well the summer weather seems to be somewhere else at the moment, so that's even more reason to get out
this Thursday and go to Berns in STHLM, when very special guests Dj's Pete Herbert (London) & Baby G (Barcelona) hit
town for a proper electronic disco knees-up. Recording under the name LSB, their tunes on Eskimo Recordings and
Superdiscoteca have been ripping up dance-floors all over the place! Pete is also one half of super duo Reverso 68.

Check out the special 24:hours mix. More info and invitation here
For guest list requests, send your name to: lista@twentyfourhours.se

Not to be missed! Miss it, miss out!

TED - Inspiration / Innovation Video Sphere

Ted has been a constant inspiration to me over the last couple of years. Full of movie clips of great thinkers and
creative minds, who are helping to push the development of mankind within art, science, technology and society.
This videosphere (knowledge network) has been created independently by Bestiario. The clips are linked tags.
Check out the other experiments by Bestiario, there's plenty of cool interaction play things ;-) Explore!

SIMPLE BUT EFFECTIVE - Trevor Brady

Trevor Brady has some great photographic art direction going on. Simple and effective details
which tend to complement the product and add a little mood to the subject, spot on Trev!

ILLUSTRATION - Esra Røise

Some rather nice and detailed pencil illustrations above, by Esra Røise from Norway.

JAMES JARVIS - Nike Town London

Legendary illustrator James Jarvis has created a window display installation at Nike Town London.
The giant bird should bring some joy to the masses on Oxford Street in this gloomy summer.
Also in the store foyer there are eight-panel vinyl artworks with the same character, donning his
Nike Windrunner jacket. I expect there will be some vinyl toys also floating about online sometime...
I want the big one from the windon :-) which has been sculp
ted by Beanie Brownjohn at Make Stuff.

BLOGGING - The 4 c's

If you have a blog or have a client that wants a blog, before going ahead, take into account
the 4 c's! COMMUNITY / CLARITY / CONTENT / CONSISTENCY. If you or your client can't
deliver all of these, don't bother. It may be your job to talk the client out of it, so use this simple
model to explain why not, otherwise you will be to blame when they wonder why it isn't working
for them ;-) ''But why isn't is working, I thought it was cool to have a blog, you didn't do it right, bye bye''

MUSIC VIDEO - Girl Playing With A Big Cock

Fantastically well shot music video above, about a girl playing with a big cock.
In fact it's a big rooster. Created by That Go. HD and downloads here...

DAZED DIGITAL - Goodbye Flash

Dazed & Confused has relaunched its website, with design by its in-house digital team.
Their previous site was ahead of it's time for a magazine and had great content, but the information architecture
was somewhat flawed. Now they have opted for a more online newspaper-style html site. Brave and the right move
for them! The basic, highly useable look with minimal design elements and grid format is nothing new but correct
for the content and the amount of updates they want to do.

No wonder magazine sales have dropped if they plan to add the whole mag!

NEW INTERVIEW MAG - Coming In September

Nearly all magazines have recorded a drop in sales for the first half of this year, even Vogue -15%!
Is everyone hanging out and getting their fixes online? No time for reading as Facebook is more appealing?

On January 29th I posted news about Fabian Baron leaving French Vogue to return to Interview, to inject
some much needed creative input and direction.
Well the September issue has a thorough makeover with new logo, layout, paper stock and trim size and
even a special foil and ink-treated cover, wow! The content and repositioning is also in the right direction...
READ MORE. Hoping to counter the disposable nature of culture these days, Baron puts it like this...
''Quality needs to be put into magazines today, otherwise there will be no reason for magazines to exist.''

IT'S NEW PUSSYCAT!

BOOMING GOOD - How Fashion Parties Should Be!

OK, so we're well into Sthlm fashion week now and after some nice parties, which tend to all roll into each other...
last night it was great to end up at this little local shindig, it bought back memories of true creative expression!

MICHEAL CREAGH - Super Clean

Micheal Creagh has a very minimal set of photos, clean and simple in approach...
perfect for showing products to there're full. He's also been working closely with those master
vector illustrators - Vault 49. Who, although great at what they do, don't seem to have moved
their style on unfortunately, but it will probably come back around again sometime!

PEACE & GRAVY - Summer Isn't Over!!!

Although the sun hasn't really been out for a while in Sthlm and the sales have all passed,
I will not admit summer is over! If you fancy some new summer threads then keep an eye
on PF and his T label... Peace & Gravy! Summer washes and punky new wave have been
the taste over the last couple of months. They always come in limited numbers but you may
be able to still pick some up at the Item Store. If not, I'm sure next summer will bring some
more gems! PF also has his hands in many other creative pies, so watch his blog!

NEW FILM - RocknRolla

After a few duds, Guy Ritchie returns to form with his new film and does what he does best...
another London gangster flick, with a bit of football and rock-star thrown in for extra lad appeal.

LASER TYPOGRAPHY - By Oscar & Ewan

Oscar & Ewan have created this hi-tec typeface with lasers. It's nice to see people pushing this creative
field in new ways, I'm looking forward to seeing more innovations as technologies advance and we move
into a different type of approach to creative thinking in the near future.

HOME SWEET HOME - Erin Wasson

The lovely top model Erin Wasson also lives in a lovely home. It's an eclectic mix of retro
and bohemian that just works somehow, with plenty of little visual elements all over the place, love it!
Keep an eye out for her jewelry line, LowLuv by Erin Wasson, which had its runway debut last season...
and set to debut in Spring 2009 is her womenswear collection together with RVCA. Save ya funds girls!

UNKLE - End Titles

Robert Del Naja (Massive Attack) has again collaborated with Unkle on the
artwork for their new album, with stunning design details as always! There is
also portrait photography on the inside by the super hot photo duo...
Warren Du Preez and Nick Thornton Jones, pushing the norm like they do.
